Class Policies

ADA Accommodations: All classes sponsored by Laura Allen are held in a handicapped-accessible facility. Service animals, sign language interpreters, and personal assistants are allowed in our classes. If you have concerns about your ability to be accommodated in our classes, please contact Laura Allen at 828-289-5047 between 9am-6pm EST.

Assessments: Performance may be assessed visually based on class participation and instructor feedback. Some classes may require a written test.

Cancellation Policy: Classes that are sponsored by AMTA Chapters or any entities that require their own registration have their own cancellation policies; check their website at time of registration. Classes that are sponsored solely by Laura Allen have the following cancellation policy: Cancellations received more than 14 days before the scheduled class will receive a full refund. Cancellations received less than 14 days, but more than 2 days, before the scheduled class will receive credit towards another class. Cancellations received 2 days or less before the scheduled class will receive no refund and no credit.

Cell Phone Use: Phones should be set to vibrate while in class. Talking on the phone, surfing the Internet, texting etc should be done during breaks and not during class time.

Completion of Course: Attendance of full class is required. No credit will be given for partial attendance. Your certificate will be issued at the end of the class. In the event of last-minute registration, your certificate may be emailed to you. It is your responsibility to keep up with your certificates. There will be a $10 charge for replacement certificates. Certificates of Completion signify attendance and participation. Certificates of Achievement are issued only for classes requiring a test.

Conflict of Interest: There are no conflicts of interest in classes taught or sponsored by Laura Allen. No one is required to purchase anything over and beyond the price of the class. Any books or other materials offered for sale will not be discussed during class time but may be displayed at the back of the room. No classes are taught or sponsored that require the purchase of any tools, products, or extra supplies.

Evaluations: All students are required to fill out class evaluations. Depending on provider status, this may be required to be filled out electronically or on forms provided at the end of class.

Grievances: Complaints should be brought to the attention of the instructor. Please keep in mind that we cannot please everyone, for example, if your complaint is about the temperature of the room. Any serious matters, such as a complaint of inappropriate behavior, including but not limited to sexual comments or behavior, should be brought to the attention of the instructor immediately, and will be dealt with immediately.

Non-Discrimination: All students are welcome in our classes regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, age, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, veteran status or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal or state law.

Required Supplies: For hands-on classes, students are required to bring a massage table and clean sheets to each class.
